Cathy Ellis, PT, Appointed as CARF Board Chair
The board of directors of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has elected Cathy Ellis, PT, to service a one year term as board chair succeeding Susanne M. Bruyere, PhD, CRC. The term will begin on January 1, 2009.
“In the coming year, CARF will continue to expand our work to improve the lives of persons served in the human service fields,” Ellis said. “CARF-accredited programs are growing internationally.”
Ellis is the director of physical rehabilitation and the clinical director of the spinal cord program at the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in Washington, DC.
Ellis has represented the American Physical Therapy Association on many committes working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She is currently appointed as clinical instructor in health care sceiences on the faculty of the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and serves on the advisory board of the physical therapy program at Marymount University.
We wish Cathy Ellis well in her governance role with CARF.
